When do you see your doctor with this one? We need to be very careful with our breasts and look after them really well in the peri-menopause, the menopause, and beyond. So any situation that is worrying you about your breasts, please see your doctor.

If you find that you’ve tried these self-help remedies and nothing is working then just double-check with your doctor, especially if you find that you’re getting some lumps and bumps! Most of us do I had a few lumps, and the consultant very kindly said, “Youve just got lumpy breasts.” So very often, there’s nothing here to worry about, but please get this checked out as soon as you can and especially if you’re getting any nipple discharge as well or your nipples are very, very uncomfortable.

There’s lots of websites around on how to check your breasts on a regular basis. And I would recommend that all of you out there follow one of those as well, just to keep an eye on your breasts going through the menopause.

I hope you’ve found this helpful. It’s a big subject, and a lot of women find that they get this particular problem, sometimes on and off. Very rarely will you get it for the whole of the menopause, but it is something that most women will certainly experience at some point.

Breast pain affects approximately two out three women at some point in their lives. Breast pain refers to the general discomfort, tenderness, or aching in one or both breasts. There are two types of breast pain: cyclical and non-cyclical. Cyclical breast pain is linked to periodic hormonal fluctuations. Non-cyclical breast pain includes uncommon causes, like infection in the breast or pain from breastfeeding. Breast pain is a common occurrence, and should not be a serious cause for worry.

What Causes Sore Breasts In Perimenopause

The causes of breast pain can be either cyclical or non-cyclical. Cyclicalcauses of breast pain are linked to your menstrual cycle. Indeed, there are certain developmental periods in a womans life that can cause breast soreness:

  • Puberty
  • Pregnancy
  • Menopause

You may notice that as you near your period, your breasts tend to swell. This is due to an increase in the size of milk lobules and ducts, as well as water retention. Prior to menstruation estrogen and progesterone signal your breasts to swell in order to prepare for pregnancy and breastfeeding. The resultant swelling causes pain and tenderness, and you may even find lumps in your breasts that go away when you start your period.

First, if the women is on bioidentical hormones, or just hormones in general, the dosage may be too high. She should have her hormone levels tested, through blood work, by her gynecologist or primary care doctor.

Second is diet related. This relates to either food sensitivities, specific to Immunoglobulin-G related food allergies. These allergies trigger the immune system, increasing inflammation and resulting in symptoms related to breast tenderness, joint aches, digestive upset, headaches and migraines, just to name a few. Caffeine consumption also has a strong, direct correlation with breast tenderness. If youre drinking more then 1 cup of coffee daily, substitute the rest with decaf or better yet, herbal teas and water, and do this for a week. Does this improve your pain?

Third relates to excess fatty tissue. In menopause, your ovaries are no longer producing estrogen. The main driver in estrogen production at this stage is your fat tissue. Some women store most of their fat in their breasts, others in various other places . Exercise, Epsom salt baths, sauna treatments, all are great ways to eliminate the estrogens released from your fat tissue. It may be constant or intermittent, may affect one breast or both, and may involve the whole breast or just a small part. Noncyclical pain is usually a symptom of a specific problem, such as a cyst, trauma, or a benign tumor. Several conditions affecting the chest wall, esophagus, neck and upper back, and even the heart can produce symptoms that are felt as breast pain.

What Is Pueraria Mirifica

Look At A Few Vitamins And Minerals That Can Help

Breast Soreness in Perimenopause

Look at your magnesium and your B vitamins. These can sometimes work wonders, especially if you’re getting other associated symptoms such as stress, anxiety and joint pain. Very often, these can be related to low levels of magnesium and B vitamins as well.

Some women find vitamin E really helpful, but you need to have quite a high dose so you’d be looking at maybe 400 IU on a daily basis. Other women find that fish oils can be very helpful. As far as Evening Primrose Oil goes, we do know that for PMT, when you’re getting regular periods, it can sometimes be really helpful for breast tenderness.

The problem is that we can end up taking too much. If you have a diet that’s high in Evening Primrose or omega-6 foods, such as a lot of grains and carbohydrates, then you can overdose on omega-6 which then encourages inflammation and can contribute to the pain as well.

So, if you’re taking Evening Primrose Oil for the breast pain and it’s not getting any better, then maybe look at stopping that and trying your fish oil or your vitamin E oil instead. You might find that this makes a little bit of a difference.
